Artwork
Valuable
Photography and Paintings in Gouache.
A project focusing on value and light. Pictures taken of a model at night I rendered in greyscale gouache while looking at the photo from the side so as to disconnect the object recognition part of my mind. Then a second round of paintings were created, now viewing the previous paintings upside-down and recreating the values. This created a distorted and abstracted final artwork with clear reference and basis in reality, but exaggerated and highlighted value and contrast.
Chameleon Colors
Graphic Design Project
I focused on segmenting a self portrait and utilizing different color compositions for each. One color runs through each, recontextualized by the surrounding colors but never changing. This is representative of the inextricable self which is recontextualized and appears of a different quality depending on the situation, but is ultimately the same.
DIY Portfolio
Figma Prototype
Alternative portfolio design created in Figma for practice in web development, UX/UI design, and graphic design. Interactive links and scrolling artwork display are included, along with multiple interconnected pages.
Still Life
Graphite, Charcoal and Ink
Drawings and sketches made in and for studio art class. Most projects were drawn from life during short time constraints. Some were longer-term projects with specific criteria.
Mimic
3D Constructions
The replication of everyday objects and materials through unexpected or contradictory means. Can something heavy be made to appear light and vice versa? An attempt to challenge the visual assumptions made and remind us of how little information we often build assumptions upon.
Colorcature
Gouache on Paper
An examination of all of the main color palettes and varieties of tonal shifting and value difference. Creating a unified whole despite each quadrant's different color composition.
Line & Texture
Ink Drawings
This series of drawings were produced during two-dimensional design class to explore various line textures and styles. I continued producing these in my own free time as practice in linework, creative liberty, finding my own style, and letting go of some self-expectation.
